Difficulty: Easy

Servings 2 cups
Author Monica C

Ingredients

  • 5 MacIntosh Apples Core and Stem removed
  • 1/2 cup Almonds Roughly chopped
  • 1 whole Orange Zested and Juiced
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Loosely packed
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 tsp Water
  • 1/4 cup Calvados

Instructions

  1. Roughly chop Apples (you can keep skin on), with core and stem removed.

  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients (except Calvados), extract all juices from orange and let this come to a soft simmer. Lower the temperature and let this simmer for 1 hr.

  3. Add Calvados during the last 10 minutes of the simmer, before taking it off the stove and blending the ingredients.

  4. Let cool and place into sterile container until it reaches room temperature before going into the fridge. Can last a minimum of 2 weeks before it starts to lose its flavour.
