Welcome to the wonderful world of Liquid Culture, where I feature everything and anything to do with libations.

By joining the Liquid Culture community, you are committing yourself to learn, grow and be a more confident person in your own kitchen and bar. It doesn’t matter if you are new to the beverage world or a seasoned ‘mixologist’, if you have an inch of creativity in you, then you can bartend, and I am here to show you how.

What you will find in Liquid Culture is an abundance of recipes that can accommodate all levels, quick how-to videos, educational segments, featured products and so much more. Learning how to balance a cocktail is key, and understanding this notion is the first step to being the best home bartender you can be.

Liquid Culture is here to help and encourage you every step of the way, so no question or concern is too small or big when it comes to joining our community. In short, education is about to get a whole lot cooler!

I know the world of bartending and cocktails may seem intimidating, even complicated, but anyone that is comfortable around a kitchen, can be comfortable around a bar. So I’m here to shake things up, and shed some light and understanding about the world of booze, and how you can be the best with the right knowledge, tools and imagination!

Now what you need to know is…I am NOT the best bartender out there, and in truth, I am still learning and adding to my knowledge everyday. But surrounding myself (and hopefully you!) with a community that embraces mistakes and inspires creativity is exactly where I want to be, and why you should be a part of Liquid Culture.

Since starting LC, I have had so much fun developing my photography skills, styling my sets, developing new recipes, and semi-improving my writing skills. 

That’s right, all photos on this site have been photographed by me (much to my families disbelief). I picked up a book and a camera, and I just went with it, and have been loving this journey since.

With your help, Liquid Culture will be an institution where education can be comfortable and fun for all ages (over 19). The skills that you can learn here are so applicable to your day-to-day life, and if LC can help make your event or just chill night in better, than I’ve done my job! I’m a true believer that if you follow your passion in life, the rest will fall into place.

I followed my passion for the hospitality industry and I couldn’t be happier where that journey has taken me to date. That passion is my ultimate drive to work tirelessly each and every day to bring you the very best that Liquid Culture has to offer. Now enough about me, and let’s start creating!

Life has been a lot lately.

Mostly great, I swear. But my body kindly reminded me today that I can only do so much. Thankfully it’s one of those blessed days that I can stay home, be on the computer, organize life and I know I always feel so much better.

The universe (or phone algorithm / Apple Gods) gave me another message. This photo. Reminding me just where it all started and what I do this for.

When the magic of Jamaica and Tequila come together as one #OneLove

I love a good cocktail that marries two very different spirits. Especially one that may seem unexpected. That's the thing though, Tequila and Rum naturally work so well together for me. And a little splash of Jamaican Rum to compliment all the BEAUTIFUL notes to the cada día tequila reposado goes a long way!

With Summer still giving us ALL the humidity, I wanted to shake up a delicious cocktail filled with mint, pineapple, crushed ice and the star of the show; cada día tequila reposado. The combination of rum and tequila in this cocktail is the perfect way to unite people, for all the summertime celebrations.

Doing something a bit different for LC. We checking out some farms ❤️

Having moved to the burbs, I’ve been on the hunt for spaces that fuel my creativity; something I took for granted being in the city. And I realized that the things that always gets me excited and inspired is completely surrounded by food (no surprise there 🤣).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I stumbled upon @Niemifamilyfarm that really kept bringing on the surprises. Plus it seemed like when I came by, it was a fraction of what they really showcase. Saturdays are where it’s at. With local vendors offering pop ups, Fall time with the warmed drinks, more produce and market items. Plus an iconic Christmas Market that they swear I need to come back for.

My Fernet Branca lovers unite. I’ve gotchu. 🥃

I’m watching Severance right now, so excuse the cult-like caption🤣. But I feel like those who loveee Fernet Branca is that dedicated. They may even frown upon Fernet Branca in a cocktail, as it’s typically sipped on its own. 🥃
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

But this is probably the ONE spirit I get asked A LOT about what to do with it. So for this weeks #NoDrinksWasted, I decided to make it the leading role. I don’t LOVE LOVE Fernet (ya, I said it), but I’d drink this, especially on a stunning weekend like this one. Mint is VERY important here and the goslings rum is everything 🔥🔥 leaving you with the recipe right here 😍 🥃

*Insert clever Fernet Branca Cocktail Name
1 oz Goslings Black Seal Rum (@goslingsrum)
0.75 oz Fernet Branca
0.75 oz Simple Syrup (1:1)
1.5 oz Lime Juice (fresh, ONLY)
3 sprigs of mint

In a shaker, remove the leaves (be generous, make it more if you want) and give it a quick snack before placing into shaker. Add the rest of your ingredients. Handful of ice. Give it a good shake. Strain over crushed ice and garnish with mint sprig. 🥃

Well this Margarita changes EVERYTHING now doesn’t it 👀👀👀 hellooo Amarula Plant Based 😍

I don’t know why the concept of cream in a Margarita never crossed my mind, but boy am I pleasantly surprised the @amarulacanada team got me onto this. I AM HOOKED. And what’s even better, the iconic Amarula Cream Liqueur is now offering a plant based option 😍😍😍

Using coconut milk blended with the distinctive signature of the Marula Fruit, grown only in Africa. With Amarula’s signature vanilla, spiced and citrus notes, it MADE this cocktail.

This invigorated my love for Amarula. Nowww what else can I create this summer 😍🍹 Better question, what will you create?!

Wow. What a busy weekend. But I gotta say, I truly loved every second. Got a bit of family time, farmers market, great food and drinks, oh and a moment to sit down and watch a show at night, uninterrupted. BLISS. Pure Bliss.

Saturdaayyyyy, where you at?!

This is probably the first Saturday we’re truly treating ourselves and I’ll be shaking up the cocktails in the new space. Since I’ve got the extra hands this weekend, I’m giving myself time for this delicious, random creation.

This was one of those scenarios where I decided to wing it with the flavours. I’ve seen Gin and Amaretto work in the past, and I thought of some brandy to help add a bit more of that depth.

It’s a G&T kind of Friday 🍓🌞

It’s FRIDAYYYYY!! I can’t tell you how happy I am this week is wrapping up. It’s been a long one on my end, which is why I like to set up my Collective Weekends with something easy.

Collective Weekends are my way of setting you up all weekend long with some delicious @collectivedistilling Cocktails. This time around I’m using their Rhubarb and Hibiscus infused Gin to come up with some tasty imbibes 😍.

Again, I wanted to keep things simple, so we’re starting off with a Gin and Tonic, but my way #GTmyway. That’s the thing about a Gin and Tonic, they’re virtually limitless in opportunities and when it’s done right, ugh there’s nothing quick like it 😍

So let's talk about Infusing Premium Spirits...

For a long time now, I've stopped infusing my spirits. There's many reasons, but I gotta say, I was tired of all the ADDITIONAL bottles I was adding to my already growing (with limited space) bar. So I vowed that I would only infuse spirits if it was truly unique and would enhance the experience.

So let me stress this to you now. DON’T HESITATE TO INFUSE YOUR QUALITY TEQUILA WITH TEAS. In particular, cada día tequila reposado with earl grey. This tequila is so deep and complex on its own, but together with the tea, this did SO much. The bitterness of the earl grey actually brought out a sharpness that I swear enhanced the agave notes. The vegetal notes were brighter, and we all know my love for a good Earl Grey Cocktail.

This time around I am shaking up the classic Collins cocktail, but made premium and with cada dia tequila. I'll admit, a Collins has always been a boring cocktail to me. BUT THIS. Well folks, you'll be sipping this on the regular. I fell in love with it. My mom fell in love with it. Plus it's an easy cocktail to create at home with very little ingredients to source, letting the quality ingredients TRULY shine.

Continuing on this special week highlighting Canadian Brands for Canada Day, I'm surprising a lot of people with this one. @cadadiatequila is a spirit that was born here in Canada, thanks to a couple who met while celebrating (with tequila in hand) in the heart of Toronto. That love continued to grow in a special way. 
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Having travelled to and from Mexico often, it was after a few years that they seriously started to consider working with the locals in Mexico to create a Tequila of their own that celebrates and honours the Mexican spirit that they love so dearly. They were adamant to be a part of the process, to work with the locals and ensure their tequila was produced in a sustainable way and is true to the Mexican craft.

I know, I know. Another Canadian Whisky, but it’s not your average. Trust me 👀🥃

I know being from Ontario, let alone Toronto, we’re in our own little bubble from the rest of the country. That’s probably why I was so shocked when I first got my hands on @twobrewerswhisky. The quality blew me away, they distill SINGLE MALTS which you RARELY see here, PLUS it comes from a region that’s tough to get your hands on: the Yukon Territories 🥃🇨🇦❄️❄️

So much surprised me with this whisky and I was all for it. They take their time with their releases, do it purelyyyy out of love and what Mother Nature provides, plus they have a decent gin from their sister company that is worth seeking out.

Back in my days behind the bar, @collectivebrew was a brewery I REGULARLY recommended. Their Saint of Circumstance just hits different, and pretty much all of their sips. But then I started Liquid Culture and I don’t know if it was Me or if the team at Collectives reached out, but we’ve been together ever since.

When the classic Toronto cocktail gets a cada día tequila remix...

Did you know that Toronto has a namesake cocktail? It's reminiscent of a Manhattan with a dash of Fernet Branca that gives it a whole new light. Well, while working with the cada día team, I wanted to come up with something that was a namesake that truly represented them. That's why we're calling it The Pearl.

Why's that? Because the couple behind cada día tequila reposado met while enjoying tequila on Pearl Street in the heart of Toronto.
