Orange Hibiscus Reserve

This recipe was too delicious not to put it on the Liquid Culture website. So listen up as I dive through the tasty world of American Whiskey with this Woodford Reserve imbibe infusing Orange, Amaro Nonino, Hibiscus Syrup and bitters!

When Cheers American Spirits reached out to teach me more about American Whiskey, I jumped all over the opportunity. For one, just when you think you’re an expert, believe me someone will trump you (no pun intended I swear, lol), so education for me is key, ALWAYS. Plus we were going to be exploring some unique American Whiskey’s we typically don’t find here in Ontario, which also meant a dive through American Ryes! I find the personality of Rye’s between Canada and the U.S. to be so different, and it’s something I’ve wanted to explore more of. I know there was a massive Bourbon trend, but when it comes to Rye, it has always won my heart.

Needless to say, the virtual tasting was informative and got me excited to work with new spirits. Now what isn’t new to my library is Woodford Reserve, and the truth is, I love this bourbon. Quality and consistency with the brand has always been there for me, and I’m all about value and it’s definitely there. It became my constant whenever I would make an Old Fashioned at my old bartending joint.

This time around, I got inspired to do something a bit different. With Hibiscus syrup already in the fridge, and changing up my technique with a typical spirit forward cocktail, I made this delicious number. I referred to the trusty Death & Co book for direction, but I can proudly say that this is my very own recipe and you can bet I am proud! Want to learn how it’s made? Read below!
